Frequently asked questions
Why did we choose iPads for the 1:1 initiative at PCIS?
Some factors that contributed to the decision were the ease of use, durability and repair record, availability of educational applications, access to professional development and support and Apple's extensive experience with large-scale deployment of devices in multiple school districts around the country.
Will students be allowed to take the iPads home?
Yes, as long as a parent has signed the Acceptable Use Policy and paid the $25 insurance premium, students will be allowed to use the iPads at home as well as school.
How do we keep the iPad screen clean?
Clean iPad screens with a soft, lint-free cloth. Never use chemicals such as household cleaner. Closed cases should protect student iPads from scratches when not in use. Parents may elect to purchase a screen protector for their student's device.
Is it possible to print from the iPad?
At this time, printing from iPads is not supported. Students and teachers are encouraged to share files and assignments electronically. To support the transition to a paperless environment, students can email or save files to cloud storage and then access a school computer for printing, if needed.
I'd like to add additional apps to my child's iPad. Is this possible?
No, the app store has been disabled. Due to the storage size of the iPad, only a limited number of apps have been selected for student use.
What happens if a student forgets an iPad at home?
The district does not provide extra devices for students who forget their iPads. Classroom sets of textbooks are available for use during the school day.
Is a manual available for understanding how to use the iPad?
